And I’ll confess, my partner’s love for contemporary is my weakness. I am a stickler for getting setting and context right, and I don’t like to skimp on that stuff, so placing it in a historical or contemporary context bugs the hell out of me. Places a lot more pressure on me whereas in fantasy/sci-fi I can invent the world around it and am answerable to no one.

Always lovely to hear about another author into the darker side of things too. I’ll have to check out that book…
